My cheap light meter taught me my monitor was way too bright

Picked up a $20 lux meter off Amazon last week and found out my desk lamp was blasting 1,200 lux at my eyes while my monitor was at 800 nits. Anyone else ever measure their actual workspace lighting and get a nasty surprise?

Oof, that desk lamp stat really got me. Maybe I shouldn't have ignored the glare.

Wait til you hear what happened to my mate Dave? He spent three weeks working under a flickering fluorescent tube thinking it was fine, ended up with migraines so bad he thought he had a brain tumour. Doctor just told him to change the bloody bulb lol.
