I finally ditched my desk lamp after a month of headaches

I had this cheap LED lamp angled at my monitor for a year, figured glare was just part of working from home. Then I swapped to a light bar mounted on top of the screen, the kind everyone in this sub raves about. My eyes stopped straining by day three, and I measured the difference with a lux meter app: 420 to 780 at my desk in Denver. Anyone else find that overhead-mounted light works better than any side lamp, or is it just me?

Different setups work for different people, for sure. Side lamps have always been fine for my eyes, but I also have a matte screen and a fairly bright room so glare was never a big deal. Your numbers are interesting though, maybe I just got lucky with my cheap lamp placement.
