Cable clips vs velcro strips, velcro wins by a mile

I spent 2 hours last Sunday trying to organize my desk cables with those sticky cable clips that go under the desk. Three of them fell off within an hour because my desk has a textured bottom. Swapped them all out for velcro cable ties I got at the hardware store for $4 and now everything stays put. Has anyone else had better luck with one method over the other?

oh actually the sticky ones can work, but you have to prep the surface first with some rubbing alcohol or they'll just fall off like you said. i've had way better luck with the 3M command cable clips since they have that strong adhesive designed for textured surfaces. velcro is definitely more forgiving though, especially if you ever need to swap out cables.

Does the rubbing alcohol trick work for phone screen protectors too or is that a different thing?
