A client asked why my portfolio photos were so dark - best feedback I got all year

I had a freelance graphic designer look at my home studio photos for a project pitch and he said my lighting made everything look muddy. He pointed out my desk lamp was casting shadows right where I keep my sketchbooks and tools. I added a simple adjustable LED bar under my monitor shelf for $28 and it completely changed how my space photographs for client calls and portfolio posts. Has anyone else gotten feedback that made you rethink your whole lighting setup?

Switched to a single ring light and it totally changed my zoom calls too.

@green.mason do you think a ring light would help with hiding the dark circles under my eyes, or is that just wishful thinking?
