Warning: Our town's new 'slow living' club is a total scam.

Forced calm kills real life design.

Forced zen is just stress with a higher price tag. Saw them selling sixty dollar "mindfulness" journals at the launch event, which is the opposite of slow living. It turns a personal feeling into something you can buy, like scheduled meditation sessions that just make you clock-watch. The whole thing feels like regular hustle culture wearing a linen shirt.

Exactly what @finley344 is pointing out. People end up chasing the branded idea of calm instead of finding any real quiet. It just replaces one kind of busy with another and kills the actual peace it's supposed to sell.

The "On Being" podcast had a guest who said stillness shouldn't have a logo. It kinda stuck with me.
