Spent an afternoon at that tiny notebook shop in Portland last month and noticed something strange about how people pick their planners
Almost everyone who walked in spent more time touching the paper than actually looking at layouts, and I'm wondering if you guys start with the feel of a notebook or the function when you choose one for your daily system?

Paper feel matters a lot more than people admit. If the texture is off I'll never use the thing, no matter how perfect the layout is.

Start by saying I completely agree, but also you're a little crazy. I've thrown away perfectly good notebooks because the paper felt like sandpaper. My friends think I'm nuts when I run my fingers across the page before buying, but they don't get it. You can't focus on writing when your hand is fighting the paper the whole time.
