Ran into an old coworker at Target who told me my life plan was 'too safe'

I was grabbing paper towels in the cleaning aisle last Saturday and bumped into this guy I used to work with at a marketing firm. He asked what I was up to, and when I said I was saving up to buy a house in a few years, he laughed and said I was playing it too safe. He said he quit his job to travel and do freelance design, and now I can't stop wondering if he's right or just reckless. Has anyone else had someone from their past pop up and totally question your whole direction?

Honestly, the whole "playing it safe" thing from this guy is just noise. He's literally a former coworker who popped up in the cleaning aisle - he doesn't know your actual life or what makes you happy. Buying a house is a solid goal, not a boring one. You're not being reckless, you're being smart. Don't let some dude who quit his job decide if your plan is worth it.

You had a plan before he showed up... why let some random dude in Target shake it?
