My whole plan fell apart when the main client for a roofing job in Tacoma pulled out on a Friday.
I had a full crew scheduled and materials already delivered, so I spent the weekend calling every contact I had to fill the gap. Managed to line up two smaller jobs by Monday morning, but it was a brutal scramble. How do you build a buffer into your work schedule for when big pieces just vanish?

A buffer isn't just for your schedule, it's for your cash flow too.

Yeah, I heard someone say they keep a list of "B-team" clients that aren't regular but can fill a spot last minute, like handymen or small contractors who take anything. Seems smart if you can trust them not to mess up your rep.
