My planner system fell apart after 6 weeks, back to basics now

I built this whole color coded planner with 4 different apps and a physical notebook, but last Tuesday the whole thing collapsed when I missed two meetings because I forgot to sync the digital calendar. Turns out I was spending more time maintaining the system than actually living my life, so I stripped it down to a single paper planner and a $8 timer. Now I just block out 3 main tasks per day and it's way easier to actually stick with. Has anyone else gone from super complex systems to something stupid simple and felt the relief?

Laughing at the whole thing because I did the exact same dance last year. Bought the fancy dot grid notebook, color coded everything, synced three apps, and then spent every Sunday night rebuilding the damn thing instead of doing actual work. The timer thing is genius though, seriously. I went from a binder with tabs and stickers to just writing "do the thing" on a sticky note and it’s stupid how much better that works. Honestly, the more money I spent on organization, the less organized I got. Now I just use a whiteboard marker on my bathroom mirror and if I forget something, it's my own fault, not some app glitch.
