Just read that the average person spends 4 years of their life looking at their phone
I saw this stat in a blog post about digital minimalism and it honestly made me freeze. Four whole years. That's longer than I spent in high school. I was sitting there, reading it on my phone of course, and I just started thinking about all the times I pick it up without even thinking. Waiting for coffee, in line at the store, even just sitting on my couch for five minutes. It adds up to a huge chunk of my one life, and I'm just handing it over to an app. It made me really question what I'm designing my days around. How do you guys actually cut down on screen time without feeling like you're missing out?

That "four whole years" thing hit my friend the same way. He started leaving his phone in another room after dinner, and he said the first week felt weird, but then he actually read a whole book. It's crazy how just one dumb habit change can free up so much time.

Ever try just turning it off? Like, completely off for a few hours. @theabennett has the right idea with the kitchen charger, but I take it further. The phone is a tool, not a part of my body. I leave it in the car when I go into the store now. You realize you don't need it for most little tasks. The missing out feeling goes away fast when you see how much calmer you get. It's just about taking back control, one dumb scroll at a time.
