I finally visited the Japanese garden in Portland and noticed something about their paths
I was walking through the Portland Japanese Garden last week, and the gravel paths really caught my eye. They're not straight at all, they curve and wind around on purpose. A guide told me they design them that way to make you slow down and see things from new angles. It got me thinking about how we plan our own daily routines. Do you guys have any small design tricks like that you use to change your pace?

Honestly those winding paths just seem inefficient. Sometimes you just want to get from point A to point B without the forced mindfulness. Straight lines get the job done.

But what if the winding path itself is the point? Like, if you're in a park or a garden, isn't the whole idea to not be in a hurry?
