Rant: Lost 4 hours of vector work because of one dumb autosave setting
I was working on a logo refresh at 2 AM in my home office when Illustrator crashed hard. Opened it back up and the autosave file was from 8 PM, not 2 AM. Turns out I had the autosave interval set to 30 minutes but didn't realize it stops saving if the file gets bigger than 500MB. Lost 20 different lockups and 3 color palette iterations. Had to redo everything from memory and my coffee was cold the whole time. Anyone else ever get burned by autosave settings that dont actually save?

And the thing about file size limits is they never tell you about them upfront, you just find out the hard way. I lost a whole evening's work on a wedding album layout once because I didn't realize the program stopped saving past 2GB, and by the time I noticed, the files were already corrupted. Had to call the client the next morning and ask for their original photos again, which was about as fun as it sounds.

Yeah but that's on you for not checking the file size limit. Vector files shouldn't be hitting 500MB unless you're doing something wrong.
