Question about a font file that crashed my whole presentation

I was setting up a pitch in a coffee shop on Tuesday and my slides froze because of a custom font I'd just installed... I had to switch to a system font in 5 minutes before the meeting started. Has anyone else had a font just break a file like that?

My laptop once blue-screened just from me looking at Comic Sans too hard.

My old PC would freeze if I opened more than two browser tabs. I'm pretty sure it considered Comic Sans a hostile attack. Some fonts just have that effect on weak hardware.

Read somewhere that Windows 95 had a hidden font renderer that would literally lower the system priority of any program that tried to display Comic Sans. Not sure if it's true but it makes too much sense not to believe.
