Pro tip: color pick the wall paint first before you start your digital renderings

I manage painting crews and I used to do all my color mockups in Photoshop using random hex codes. Then I'd get to the job site and the actual paint color would look totally different. Spent a whole afternoon last month fixing a software layout because the blue I picked on screen was way darker in real life. Now I grab the exact paint chips from Sherwin or wherever, scan them with my phone, and pull the color straight from that image into my design file. Saves me from redoing entire mockups. Has anyone else run into this with specific paint brands being way off on screen?

Pulled the same bonehead move myself about six months ago, picked this really nice sage green from a hex code online and it turned out looking like swamp slime on the actual wall. My customer just stared at me and I had to pretend I meant to do that, real professional moment right there. You'd think after doing this for years I'd learn my lesson but nope, I still catch myself eyeballing colors on a monitor like I'm some kind of paint psychic. The phone scanning trick is brilliant though, I started doing that after I realized my work monitor shows everything way too blue and bright. Now I just snap a picture of the actual paint chip under the job site lights and use that, saves me from having to explain to a homeowner why their "warm cream" looks like dirty eggshell.
