My mentor told me to stop using so many artboards in Figma
She said I was making things too hard for myself by trying to show every single state on its own page. I mean, I had like 50 artboards for one mobile app flow. She made me group things into components with variants instead, and it cut my file size in half. Now I can find stuff way faster. Has anyone else had a mentor give you a simple tip that fixed a big mess?

Honestly, I get why she suggested that, but having all those separate artboards saved my skin last week. The client wanted to see every single error state in order, and I could just walk them through the pages. With variants, it's all collapsed and you have to remember which property changes what. For complex flows, the visual map of artboards can be clearer.

Wait, you had FIFTY artboards for one flow? That's wild (no offense). I'd lose my mind trying to keep track of all that. Your mentor is totally right, variants are the way to go. You can still show every state, it's just cleaner. Having to click through 50 pages sounds like a nightmare for anyone else opening your file.
