Found 60 unused layers in a client file from 2019 that saved me 2 hours of rework
I opened up this old branding project last Tuesday and stumbled on a hidden layer group with all the vector paths already separated, which cut my production time way down has anyone else found gold in old files like that?

June 2019 for me... I found a folder of unflattened textures in a project that saved maybe 30 minutes tops. But honestly I think people overhype these "goldmine" finds. Most of the time when I dig into old files the layers are misnamed or the effects are all rasterized anyway. It's more like finding a half-eaten sandwich in the back of your fridge than a treasure chest. Sure it's nice but if your workflow relies on ancient files you might be keeping bad habits around. I'd rather just rebuild from scratch and know exactly what I'm working with.

Yeah I saw a similar post on a design forum last week where someone was bragging about finding their old gradient maps from 2018. Thing is they admitted the file had like 50 hidden layers they didn't even need anymore which kind of defeats the purpose. I guess it depends on how organized you were back then, most of my old files are a mess too.

I read a post the other day about someone finding a fully layered PSD from 2016 that saved them a whole weekend of tracing work. That's a nice little time capsule.
