A print shop blunder led to my best file prep habit
I was picking up some client brochures and the print guy just STARTED grinning at my files. He held up a page that was totally pixelated because I'd sent the wrong resolution. It was MORTIFYING, standing there while he explained it in front of other customers. That night, I made a simple text document template with every spec I ever need, like DPI and bleed settings. Now, the FIRST thing I do on any new job is fill that template out and paste it into the project folder. When I'm ready to export, I just check the list and go. It takes two minutes but saves me HOURS of back-and-forth. I never have that sinking feeling at the counter again. All from one cringe-worthy trip.

You know, I used to think like @river183 about templates. But after a few bad prints, that checklist is the only thing between me and total chaos.

Wait, did you make that template from scratch?

Actually, I don't really consider using a base and tweaking it as making it from scratch. It's more like a major remodel!
