Rant: The cereal box redesign that took me 6 hours to notice

I grabbed a new box of my usual cereal last Tuesday at the Safeway on 12th and nearly poured it without looking. The brand redid the packaging, nothing fancy, just swapped the bowl photo for a flat illustration and moved the nutrition facts to the side panel. I stood there in my kitchen for a solid 6 hours before I realized the ingredient list was now printed in tiny 6pt type on the back corner. My eyesight is fine, but I had to squint under the counter light just to read the whole wheat content. What frustrates me is that everyone online seems to praise this minimal look, but nobody talks about how it hurts basic usability. Is legibility just not part of the conversation anymore, or am I the only one who actually reads the box before eating?
