That $45 color calibration card was my best impulse buy

I've been doing logo work and social posts for small shops around Omaha for about 8 months now. My laptop screen always made colors look brighter than they actually were, so I kept sending clients these washed out oranges and greens. Last Tuesday I grabbed a SpyderCheckr card on a whim at a local camera store, no real plan, just tired of guessing. I shot a photo of it, built a quick correction profile, and suddenly everything on my monitor matched the printed proofs. It felt like someone turned on a light in a dark room, seriously. My latest client even said the teal in their new banner finally looks like the swatch they picked. Has anyone else tried one of these cards, or do you just trust your eyes and hope for the best?

Did you build the profile once and it just carried over to every project after that? That's the part that sold me on mine, because I stopped second guessing every single file I sent out. Now I just shoot the card at the start of a batch and the colors stay honest the whole way through.
