Spent 6 hours trying to match a color in Illustrator that I could've eyeballed in 5 minutes

I was making a simple flyer for my neighbor's garage sale last weekend. Got stuck trying to perfectly match the yellow in their old logo, kept tweaking CMYK values until my eyes crossed. After six hours of frustration I just held up a printed swatch next to the logo and picked the closest one by hand. Anyone else waste huge chunks of time overthinking color matching when a simple guess would work?

Once I spent three hours making a coffee cup logo blue instead of red because I had the wrong monitor calibration.

@the_eric Oh I feel that. Tried to match a "warm gray" for two days. Was actually beige.
