I finally stopped using pure black for text in my designs

For like 6 months I always used #000000 for body text because I thought it was the most readable. Last week I tried a dark gray like #333333 on a project for a small cafe menu here in Portland. It just looked softer and less harsh on the eyes, especially on white backgrounds. Has anyone else made this switch or do you stick with pure black?

Man I was the exact same way until I tried a dark gray on a project and it just clicked. Now I can't go back to pure black for body text, it feels way too harsh.
