That one designer who pointed out my spacing inconsistencies in a hallway conversation

I was walking back from lunch at a conference in Austin a few years ago when a senior designer I barely knew stopped me to point out my 8px grid was actually 10px in one component. He showed me on his phone by pulling up a screenshot he had saved from my talk earlier. Has anyone else had a random encounter like that totally change how you look at your own work?

Wait, he had a screenshot from your talk saved on his phone? That's either dedication or he's been following you around with a ruler. But honestly, that's the kind of feedback that sticks with you forever because it's so specific and weird. At least he didn't pull out a magnifying glass and measure it pixel by pixel right there in the hallway.

True, though if he was measuring pixel by pixel I probably would've asked if he needed a tape measure next time.
