Our project manager wanted to scrap the design system for 'something fresh'.
After months of work, he said our components looked too standard. The team was mad because we just finished training everyone on it. We had to explain how much work and cash a switch would need. Why do some folks not get that sticking to the plan helps everyone?

We had a director push for a new UI library last year. Our lead designer made a simple chart showing all the screens we'd have to rebuild. We also tracked two weeks of dev time spent on just one component switch. When they saw the numbers, the talk about "fresh" stopped fast. Showing the actual audit changed their mind.

Hard numbers are the only thing that shuts down "fresh" talks. Always track the real cost before they even ask.
