Feedback on my button component made me rethink everything

A senior designer told me my primary button had too much padding after I spent 3 days perfecting the hover state. She said 'users don't care about the animation if the button feels wrong to tap on mobile.' Now I start with touch targets and spacing before any visual polish. Has anyone else gotten a piece of feedback that totally shifted your design system approach?

Yeah but 3 days on a hover state is wild, start with mobile first always.
