Appreciation post: A senior dev in Chicago told me 'a design system isn't a library, it's a contract' and that reframed our entire approach.

We kept treating our Figma component library as the single source of truth, which caused constant drift with our React codebase until we started versioning them together as one artifact.

That's such a great way to put it, we learned the same lesson the hard way!

Learned the hard way" was my exact mindset before this changed it.

Man that mindset shift is real. I had the same thing happen when I finally stopped trying to do everything myself and actually asked for help from other people who been through it. It was like a weight lifted off my shoulders once I realized I didn't have to figure out every little thing from scratch. Small changes in how you approach things can save you so much time and headache in the long run. I started keeping a list of what went wrong and what fixed it, then just followed that instead of guessing every time. Made a huge difference for me honestly.
