Why does no one warn you about how much hot glue sticks to everything

I tried making a paper prototype for a mobile app layout yesterday and thought I'd just use hot glue to hold some flaps together. Ten minutes in, I had glue strings all over my desk, my wrist, and half the paper was stuck to my cutting mat. I spent more time peeling dried glue off my tools than I did actually building the thing. What I learned is that low temp glue guns are way easier to control, or maybe just use tape for quick mockups. Anyone else find that hot glue makes a bigger mess than it solves?

I once glued my own shoelaces together. Not my finest moment.

Can't believe you literally glued your own shoes shut! That's a whole new level of hot glue chaos I didn't know existed.
