The RGB vs CMYK thing finally clicked for me at 2 AM last night
I have been designing for 3 years and always just matched pantone numbers without understanding why screen colors looked different when printed. Last night I was tweaking a poster for a local band show in Portland and accidentally switched the file to CMYK mode halfway through. Has anyone else had a late-night realization that made a basic concept suddenly make sense?

Oh man, I have to push back on this a little bit. Switching to CMYK mode in the middle of a project is actually a really fast way to mess up your colors permanently (like, it can clip all your vibrant blues and neons into mud). I get the late night click thing, but RGB and CMYK aren't interchangeable on the fly. Screen is light, paper is ink, they're totally different animals. Your poster probably looked way duller after that switch, right?

Yeah, learned that one the hard way myself.
