That one critique about my icon stroke weights still haunts me

About 5 years ago I was showing some app icons to a senior designer at a meetup in Seattle. She just looked at it for a second and said 'your 2px stroke looks like 1.5px on that gear icon.' I brushed it off at first but later that night I measured it and she was right, I had mixed 2px and 1.5px strokes without realizing. Now I literally zoom in to 400% and check every single icon's stroke weight before exporting. Has anyone else had a tiny detail like that mess with your head for years?

Oh man, I've been there. I still catch myself double checking alignment on things I signed off years ago. It's like that one critique rewired your brain for good.

And that's EXACTLY it, right? I actually read something recently about how our brains hold onto negative feedback way stronger than positive stuff. Something about survival instincts or whatever. So that one critique literally overrides all the good work you did before. Like your brain is trying to protect you but it just makes you paranoid instead. It's wild how that sticks with you for YEARS.
