Serious question, why do my gradients look muddy until I switch to CMYK?

I was working on a poster for a local coffee shop in Portland last week, and every gradient I tried looked like dirty water on screen. I spent 3 hours tweaking colors in RGB mode and getting frustrated. Then I remembered this old trick to switch to CMYK mode before blending gradients, and the transition was so much cleaner. Has anyone else dealt with this where RGB gradients just blend into a gross mess?

Your gradients looking like dirty water" is basically the story of my design life, I've lost count of how many times I've stared at a muddy mess wondering if my monitor just hates me. It’s wild how RGB sometimes turns a sunset gradient into a swamp because it’s trying to show colors the screen just can't handle cleanly. CMYK is my go-to now for gradients too, even if it feels like a cheat code from 2005.

Wait, you spent 3 hours before trying that?
