Compared my sketchbook layouts last week, numbered pages beat blank ones by a mile

I have two moleskines sitting on my desk, one from January and one from March. The first one I just drew anywhere, no structure, thought it would feel free. The second one I started numbering every page and adding a tiny index on page 1. Found a logo idea from 6 weeks ago in under 10 seconds today, the other one I flipped through for 5 minutes and still missed a layout I was hunting for. Anyone else keep a running index or am I just late to this?

Right, isnt it wild how a little structure saves you from digging through your own brain? I did the exact same thing with scans on my tablet, once I started naming and dating files instead of just dumping them, finding old stuff got stupid easy.
