Vent: My bright idea for a kitchen accent wall went totally wrong
I painted one wall in my kitchen a deep navy blue, thinking it would look modern. After it dried, the whole room felt smaller and way darker than I expected. I learned that a dark color needs a lot more light than I had, even with my three overhead lights. Has anyone else tried a dark feature wall and had to fix it?

Our guest bedroom looked like a dungeon with one dark green wall, so I totally get it (and @nathan_davis is right about it feeling like a cave). I had to add two extra lamps just to make it feel normal again.

My buddy's living room felt like a cave after he painted it charcoal gray. It seems like dark paint always needs twice the light you think it does.
