Tried painting my kitchen cabinets with a foam roller and it was a disaster
I spent last weekend repainting my oak cabinets in the kitchen, but the foam roller left tiny bubbles all over the finish. Ended up sanding everything down and using a mini foam brush instead, which worked way better. Has anyone else had this problem with certain paint rollers?

Read somewhere that foam rollers are basically just for applying thin coats of varnish, not thick cabinet paint. The tiny pores in the foam trap air and it’s game over. I switched to a 4 inch microfiber roller from the hardware store and it laid down flat. No bubbles, no brush marks. Just sanded lightly between coats. That foam brush trick works but man, takes forever on a whole kitchen.

Saw those bubbles too when I tried a foam roller on my bathroom vanity last year... it was like the roller was trapping air and pushing it right into the paint. Had to scrape off a whole section and start over with a high-density microfiber roller instead. That foam stuff just doesn't let the paint breathe right, especially on cabinets where you need that smooth finish. Glad you found the mini foam brush trick though, those little brushes really save the day on tricky spots.
