Open shelving in the kitchen sounded great until I actually lived with it
I put up floating shelves in my kitchen remodel last month and within a week I realized dust lands on everything. I had to wash my coffee mugs before every use since they sit out in the open. Anyone else ditch open shelving for closed cabinets after trying it?

Dust on mugs is bad enough, but what about grease film? Kitchens get airborne oil from cooking, and that stuff sticks way worse than regular dust. Did you notice a greasy layer on everything within the first month too?
