Low-flow fixtures are my go-to for bathroom updates now
I work on home renovations all the time. More homeowners care about saving water these days. I always recommend low-flow toilets and faucets. Last week, I put in a toilet that uses way less water per flush. The family said their water bill dropped right away. It's an easy change that helps the planet. I see this becoming standard in most remodels.

Notice this extends past just bathrooms now. I see the same efficient tech in new washing machines and dishwashers. It feels like saving resources is finally getting baked into everyday stuff.

Sure, they talk about efficiency, but how much is it REALLY helping? My fancy washer has an eco mode that saves water, but the cycle lasts over two hours, guzzling electricity. Dishwashers with smart sensors often leave food stuck, so you end up washing by hand anyway. These gadgets might even break down faster with all the complex tech. It seems like a way to make us feel good while buying new stuff. The actual resource saving could be pretty small.

Yeah, the "actual resource saving could be pretty small" point from @the_patricia is so real... it makes me wonder about the energy to make these complex machines. All those chips and sensors need rare metals and huge factories. The real cost might be hidden in making the thing, not just running it.
