Just painted my kitchen two shades of white and the difference is wild
I picked a basic builder's white for the cabinets and a warmer white with a hint of cream for the walls. After the first coat went on, the cabinets looked flat and almost blue next to the walls. I finished the job anyway, and now in the morning light, the walls feel cozy while the cabinets just look cold and cheap. Has anyone else had a white paint turn out totally different than expected under their own lights?

My old apartment had that exact combo and it looked sharp. The cool cabinet white actually makes the warm walls feel cleaner and more intentional. It's a classic designer trick to avoid everything blending into a boring beige mess.

Totally get that. My friend did something similar with her kitchen reno last year. She went with a really warm cream on the walls and those crisp, cool white cabinets. It ended up looking way more expensive than it was.

Wasn't it the other way around, @tyler822? I thought warm cabinets with cool walls was the classic trick to stop things looking flat.
