I laughed at peel and stick backsplash until I saw my cousin's kitchen

My cousin in Austin put that cheap peel and stick tile in her rental kitchen last summer and honestly it looks better than the real subway tile I paid a guy $800 to install. She went with a simple herringbone pattern and it's been up 14 months with zero peeling. Anyone else have a renovation shortcut that actually worked out better than the real thing?

Totally feel you on this. My wife did the same thing in our laundry room and I was Skeptical but man it's held up perfectly for over a year now. Sometimes the cheap stuff just works and saves you a ton of headache.

That herringbone pattern really does make a difference though, doesn't it? Did she go with the matte finish or the glossy kind because I've heard one holds up way better in humid areas like Austin. I keep looking at the stuff for my own kitchen but the pattern options make my head spin.
