Hot take: open shelving in a kitchen is just dust collecting

I get that it looks good in those Instagram photos but I had to pick between open shelves and upper cabinets for my own kitchen reno last spring. I went with cabinets and my wife was mad for about a month. Now after 8 months she admits she was wrong because we don't spend every Saturday wiping grease off plates that sit out in the open. Has anyone else actually lived with both and regretted one choice?

Wait, you're telling me she was actually MAD you didn't get open shelving? Lol that's wild. My cousin did open shelves last year and her stuff is constantly greasy, she regrets it every day.
