Check your tile warranty before you lay it, my bathroom backsplash turned into a headache

Three years ago I put in a slate backsplash in my kitchen in Austin, paid $1,200 for the tile plus install. Last month I noticed two tiles flaking at the edges, just minor stuff. I called the supplier and they told me the warranty only covered the tile if I used their exact grout and sealer combo, which their own clerk never mentioned at purchase. Turns out I used a standard big box grout and now they're refusing any refund, so I'm stuck with peeling slate and a $400 replacement quote. Has anyone else dealt with a warranty that hinges on specific install products that the store never tells you about upfront?

Wait, they expected you to just know their secret grout and sealer combo that never got mentioned? That's wild, I'd be livid too.

Man, that reminds me of my buddy who redid his bathroom and the contractor got mad he didn't know some special caulk brand, like dude, you never said anything. People just assume you're in their head, I swear.
