The day I switched from light gray to blue-gray for my dark mode backgrounds
I used to just pick a dark gray like #2d2d2d for all my app backgrounds. Then I saw an article that suggested a touch of blue, like #1e1e2e, to reduce eye strain. I tried it on a side project last month and the difference was noticeable after just a few hours of coding. The colors feel deeper and less harsh on my eyes, especially when I switch between screens. Has anyone else experimented with tinting their dark mode backgrounds to a specific hue?

Oh man, I actually read about this EXACT thing in a UX newsletter a few weeks back. They talked about how the blue tint mimics natural shadows which is why it feels more comfortable to our brains. I tried the same #1e1e2e on my VS Code setup and it's been a total game changer for late night coding sessions. The difference was super obvious when I switched between my terminal and my browser - the browser actually looked PINKISH in comparison. I also read that some people swear by a warm tint like brown or amber for nighttime use, but blue-gray just feels cleaner to me.

Oh wow, I actually caught a YouTube video about this last week and it blew my mind! The guy explained how the blue-gray trick works because it helps your eyes focus better since blue wavelengths are naturally sharper or something like that. I tried it on my phone's reading app and I swear the text feels clearer now, like the letters aren't trying to swim around on the screen. I also read that some people go with a super subtle green tint for the same reason, but I think the blue-gray looks more modern and clean. It's crazy how such a tiny color shift makes a real difference after staring at screens all day.
