The $9 dark mode browser extension that was actually hurting my contrast ratios

Been working on a client's dashboard redesign for a few weeks now. I kept picking these nice muted grays for backgrounds and text, thinking they looked sleek. But something felt off every time I previewed it on my own machine. My coworker finally ran it through a contrast checker and my main body text was sitting at 3.8 to 1. That's way below WCAG. I spent like 5 hours adjusting shades one by one before I realized the browser extension I had installed was overlaying its own dark filter on top of my CSS. That thing was quietly shifting all my colors. Uninstalled it, rebuilt the palette from scratch with actual hex values, all good now. Has anyone else had a tool like that mess with their testing? What do you use to verify contrast when you're deep in a dark theme?
