Rant: I spent $200 on a dark theme plugin that made my site look like a bad sci-fi movie

Bought a premium dark mode plugin for my client's site about three months ago. It promised 'automatic color inversion' and 'smart contrast.' Instead, it turned all the product images a weird shade of purple and made the text on buttons completely unreadable. I wasted a whole weekend trying to fix the mess before just turning it off and coding a simple theme from scratch. The client was not happy about the delay. Has anyone else had a plugin just totally ruin their color scheme?

Always test premium plugins on a staging site first.

Was it really worth spending that much on a plugin when you could have just written a few lines of CSS to start with?

Starts feeling like people pay to avoid learning, then get stuck when the plugin breaks and they can't fix it themselves. I've seen it happen with everything from website tools to kitchen gadgets, pay for convenience upfront and then pay twice when you need to understand how it actually works.
