Pure black vs dark gray, my client threw a fit and I'm split now
Last Tuesday in Austin I delivered a dark theme with #0D0D0D backgrounds, thought it looked sleek on my OLED monitor. Client came back saying it was 'muddy' and demanded pure #000000 everywhere. I switched it over, then tested it on a cheap TN panel and the black crushed all the shadows, text looked like it was floating in a void. Now I'm stuck between what looks good on paper and what actually works across different screens. Do you all push back on pure black requests or just give the client what they want and let them learn the hard way?

'Floating in a void' is EXACTLY what pure black does on bad panels. Tell your client to bring their laptop to your next meeting and stare at it for 15 minutes, see if they still want that void.
