Overheard a designer at a cafe say dark mode is just 'inverted colors'

Honestly, that made me so mad. They were talking about a project and said they just slapped a black background on their light theme. Tbh, you can't just invert stuff, you have to adjust the contrast and saturation for every single element. Has anyone else had to explain this to a coworker?

Did you ask them how they handle text contrast in their "inverted" design?

Actually, I get their point. For a lot of simple apps, a straight invert is a totally fine starting place. It gets you most of the way there before you tweak things.
