Had a chat with my buddy who works at a game studio
He told me they intentionally use dark mode with slightly blue backgrounds because pure black causes eye strain during long play sessions. Has anyone else tested different dark tones besides straight #000?

actually pure black is totally fine, i've been using #000 for years and never had any issues with eye strain. the whole "blue tint reduces strain" thing sounds like marketing nonsense honestly. if anything, that faint blue light is still blue light hitting your retinas, which is worse for sleep patterns later. i've played 12 hour sessions on a pure black background modded into games and felt perfectly fine, no headaches or anything. the real problem is probably just people not adjusting their monitor brightness or sitting too close. dark mode was never meant to be some clinical ergonomic solution, it's just preference. color temperatures matter way more than the exact hex value anyway.
