Dark mode users: do you think high contrast is hurting readability, or am I the only one who flipped after testing 47 people at my office?
I ran a quick test with 47 coworkers in our Chicago office and 31 of them read slower on pure black (#000000) than on dark gray (#1a1a1a), so now I can't decide if true black is a design choice or just a mistake we all copied from OLED screens.
Yeah I ran into this same thing when we switched our app over last year, and honestly the fix was just bumping the bg to #121212 and pulling the text down to like #e0e0e0 instead of pure white. Idk if it's an OLED thing or what, but that contrast is just too harsh when you're staring at it for hours. Maybe it's just me but I'd trust your 47 people over whatever everyone else is doing.
