Went from zero 2FA to locked down in 14 days, here is what finally clicked

I used to think two-factor authentication was only for people dealing with bank accounts or work stuff, but after my Spotify got hacked in early March I realized how sloppy I was. The hacker changed my email and it took me 3 days to get the account back, which was a huge pain since I had playlists from college. So I sat down and set up a password manager with unique passwords for every site, then added an authenticator app to my email, bank, and social media. The big change was using backup codes printed and stored in my desk drawer, because I almost got locked out when I got a new phone last week. Also turned on login alerts for anything unusual, and I actually got one yesterday for a login attempt from Brazil, which would have scared me before. Has anyone else had a moment where a small hack made you go all in on security, and what tools did you settle on for the long run?
