That QR code on the coffee shop flyer nearly got me
Saw a random QR code taped to the bulletin board at my gym in Austin, thought it was for a free smoothie, scanned it and it tried to download some sketchy app. Glad my phone blocked it, but it made me realize how easy it is to fall for those. Anyone else scan QR codes without checking the URL first?

Scanning a random QR without checking is risky, but the real trick is that those codes can be replaced by stickers. Someone can slap a fake one right over the real flyer and you'd never know. I always look for signs of tampering now, like peeling corners or a code that looks too shiny. Your phone blocking it is a win, but even the URL can look legit at first glance, so stay sharp.
