Spent $80 on a password manager and it locked me out for 3 days

Bitwarden's self-hosted option seemed like a good idea. Set it up on a old Raspberry Pi last month. Then the SD card died and I couldn't get into any of my accounts. Had to reset everything manually. The cloud version works fine for most people but if you go the self-hosted route make sure you have backups. Anyone else get burned by rolling your own security tools?

Bitwarden self-hosted is a trap for anyone who thinks they're a sysadmin but really just wants their passwords to work. SD cards die, power supplies fail, you forget to update and then you're locked out of your own life. The cloud version costs like $10 a year and just works, that's the whole point of paying for a service. People love to overcomplicate things and then act surprised when their janky setup fails.

Oof, that's a rough lesson in redundancy.
