Shoutout to the IT guy in Tulsa who told me to pick a passphrase over a weird password, and my dumb choice made me laugh
So last week I finally set up a password manager after my bank locked me out for the third time in a month, and I hit this one screen where it wanted a master password. I had two options in my head: some nightmare string of random letters and symbols, or a passphrase made of real words. I went with the passphrase because I knew I'd just write the random one on a sticky note like a clown. My phrase ended up being four words about my old dog and a broken grill, and honestly typing it feels like telling a tiny story every time I log in. The funny part is my firehouse buddy watched me do it and asked if I was writing a poem to my account. But here's the thing, the IT guy at the shop in Tulsa who gave me the tip said length beats crazy symbols, and a 25 character phrase is way easier to remember than 12 random junk characters. Has anyone else switched to passphrases and felt weirdly attached to the one they picked?
