Paid $40 for a password manager and it just saved me from a total mess

I dropped $40 on a password manager last month after getting tired of using the same password for everything, then yesterday I got an email from a site I used in 2019 saying they had a data leak. The manager auto-generated a strong password for that account and I realized if I hadn't switched, my bank login would've been compromised too. Has anyone else had a cheap subscription pay off big time like that?

Last year my auto-renewing antivirus caught a ransomware download I accidentally triggered... definitely saved me way more than the $30 I spent on it.

23andme leaked my genetic info last year and it wasn't even a password thing, it was their own fault. But that $40 subscription to a VPN I bought after a drunk Amazon purchase saved my credit card from some weird charges three months ago, so I guess cheap protection is worth it. Your story about the bank makes me want to check if my old passwords are still floating out there in some dump. Honestly, paying for security feels stupid until you see what happens without it, then it's the best money you ever spent.
